Our Story
StudioArch was founded in 2014 in Thessaloniki by Eleni Pavlidou (Diploma in Architecture, AUTh, 2008; M.Arch from ETH Zürich, 2011) and Marko Stipić (Diploma in Architecture, University of Zagreb, 2009; AA School Visiting School Athens, 2012). The two met on a hotel renovation in Plaka while working for a larger Athens practice and discovered they shared a frustration with the way contemporary Greek architecture was photographed — finished, styled, depopulated — when the buildings they admired were the ones that wore their weather, their use, their changes. They opened a small office above a stationer's on Tsimiski with three drawing tables, an espresso machine, and a working brief: do fewer projects, draw them more carefully, and stay until the building is lived in.
